A tragic wreck kills six teenagers when two cars collide following a night of drinking and partying,
leaving an entire community shattered as they try to move on with their lives. Follow the story of James Stewart, the driver responsible for taking away all those lives, as he struggles to deal with the
consequences of his actions.
Following his conviction for manslaughter, James endures years of incarceration, dealing with prison life,
gang violence and even murder. When he turns to the Prison Ministry, James discovers the help he needs to find the forgiveness he so desperately wants. The Prison Ministry plays an important role in helping their members learn how to forgive, and even more so, how to seek forgiveness for themselves.
In prison, James meets Christopher Howard, a prison guard who confesses that he wanted to kill the man who killed his family in a drunk driving accident, just like James, but instead, he found his own redemption when he forgave the man who had killed his family. Christopher Howard plays a key role in the miniseries, proving the power of forgiveness for James.
Gang violence escalates in the prison prior to the riot. Blue Man, the head of a prison gang, bullies James and forces him to let his gang use James’ cell to store drugs and cash. He is attacked and almost killed by a rival gang. James’ intervention in these attacks anger Blue Man, but he is eventually swayed by his conversations with James, and he too, joins the Prison Ministry..
James journey for forgiveness and redemption is not completed until he returns home and decides to
confront the father of his best friend, who died in the accident. Unable to forgive James, the father breaks down in church when James begs him for forgiveness.
James returns to prison when he joins the Prison Ministry as a volunteer. He is trapped in the Meeting Room with the other members of the Prison Ministry when the riot breaks out in the prison. When it is over, James learns that Christopher Howard was killed. The Warden tells James that Christopher’s last request was for James to give his eulogy. James shares Christopher Howard’s story with the whole prison, serving as a lesson in the power of forgiveness.
